First in a row of attached houses that now are home to businesses, these buildings scream quaint village center. The bright blue awning, potted geraniums, and an inviting wooden bench flank the façade and set a welcoming stage for the story that unfolds within. Books are cleverly displayed on custom built shelves that clearly highlight their best feature – the face rather than the binding. Among the books are placed items of interest, an old Corona Typewriter, a beautiful doll and a unique toy that add to the charm of the store. There is an order that exists here that is missing from the super stores with shelves so thick with books one has difficulty prying them loose for investigation and a trip from end to end requires running sneakers. Main Street Books has just the right scale and selection to engage and excite and none of the clutter to overwhelm.
