Cape Cod Baseball League

The Cape Cod Baseball League is a 10 team amateur summer league of the nation’s finest collegiate talent & considered the best league of its type in the US.  It is funded in part by Major League Baseball, and hundreds of its former players (276 in 2014) are on Major League rosters during any given season & over 1100 all time that have appeared in at least one Major League Game. Stars that have played in the league include Jacoby Ellsbury (Falmouth 2004), Tim Lincecum (Harwich 2005), Buster Posey (Yarmouth-Dennis 2005), Evan Longoria (Chatham 2005), Matt Weiters (Orleans 2006), Alex Wilson (Falmouth 2007-08), & Chris Sale (Yarmouth-Dennis 2009).   The league plays a 44-game schedule beginning in the middle of June and runs through the playoffs in early August.

The Orleans, Massachusetts, area is represented by the Orleans Firebirds. The team plays in the 6,000 seat Eldredge Park, and all home games start at 7 p.m. The team is a non-profit organization, and no tickets are sold. Instead, donations are requested in an amount each family can afford. Proceeds go towards field maintenance, player housing, and youth baseball clinics.

The clinics are held at local schools during the summer, and are open to kids of all ages. General skills clinics are offered in the morning, and advanced clinics are held in the afternoon. Many lessons are taught by members of the Firebirds coaching staff. Campers may also have the opportunity to take the field with the Firebirds before the start of a home game.
